Membership Application Procedure To apply for membership, please complete the online application and provide the required attachments. Each application will first be screened for eligibility by the CFCCC Administrative Unit before review by the respective Program Leaders and, subsequently, the Director for final approval. Incomplete applications will be returned for completion before review. The membership review process takes three to four weeks. Apply Now Who is eligible? To be considered, applicants must be eligible for principal investigator (PI) status on research proposals, have a predominant and productive interest in cancer or a related discipline, and be willing and able to contribute to CFCCC. What are the membership levels? Member A UCI faculty member or researcher with PI status meeting at least one of the following criteria: Has independent cancer-relevant peer-reviewed research funding or career development (e.g., K22) from a NCI-approved peer-review agency or organization Is a project leader on a qualifying multiproject research grant (e.g. P01, U54, SPORE) Is a clinical research leader as evidenced by having P.I. status on an interventional clinical trial or a peer-reviewed non-interventional trial Holds a Cancer Center leadership position (Deputy Director, Associate Directors, Program Leader, Shared Resource Directors, and Disease-Oriented Team Leaders) Is a key new cancer-relevant recruit to UCI and within the first three years of faculty appointment (e.g., junior faculty) Associate Member A UCI faculty member or researcher (including those with P.I. status), or a faculty member of another institution who is not a member of another NCI-designated cancer center and who has a substantial collaboration with a CFCCC member(s), meeting at least one of the following criteria: Contributes in a substantial way to cancer-related research, patient care, education, or community service but does not qualify as a Member A non-UCI clinician or researcher who is not a member of another NCI-designated cancer center and who has a substantial collaboration with a UCI Cancer Center member(s) What three Research Programs can I choose from? All categories of members, in addition, receive many benefits like the following: Priority access and subsidy to CFCCC Shared Resources Publication rebate for acknowledgement of Shared Resources Ability to apply to intramural funds provided by the Cancer Center including pilot project and bridge funding Pre-award support for clinical trial contracts through the Sue and Ralph Stern Center for Cancer Clinical Trials & Research (Stern Center) Integration into one or more of the Disease-Oriented Teams (DOTs) responsible for feasibility review and approval of all clinical research Administrative pre- and post-award management of major, collaborative funding proposals characterized by substantial, multidisciplinary participation of researchers Membership Responsibilities As part of the cancer research community, the benefits received by Members entail certain responsibilities, namely to acknowledge the Cancer Center Support Grant and/or Shared Resources as appropriate in your publication or grant.
