Cultivating Undergraduate Research Excellence in Cancer (CURE-Cancer)

Supported by the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Diversity in Cancer Research (DICR) grant, the year-long (June 2025 – May 2026) Cultivating Undergraduate Research Excellence in Cancer (CURE-Cancer) equips undergraduates across Orange County with critical research skills and professional development to succeed in cancer research careers. The program begins with a 10-week mentored research experience (in basic, clinical, or population sciences) during the summer, followed by ongoing mentorship support and activities throughout the academic year.

CSUF/UCI-CFCCC Cancer Health Equity Research Partnership (CHERP) Cancer Research Experience Program (CREP)

The CSUF/UCI-CFCCC CHERP trains CSUF undergraduate and graduate students from underrepresented and minoritized populations (URM) in cancer disparities research, with the long-term goal of increasing URM representation in the cancer workforce.

MSP Student

Minority Science Program (MSP)

The UC Irvine Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences established the MSP to increase the number and academic excellence of underrepresented (UR) groups being trained as the next generation of biomedical research scientists. In the last ten years, MSP has supported over 300 undergraduate UR students.

UROP

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)

Housed within the Office of the Vice Provost of Teaching and Learning, UROP assists undergraduate students from ANY academic discipline to find research and creative on-campus opportunities with UCI faculty, or off-campus opportunities with industrial partners, national labs, and other universities. We also provide grants to support UCI faculty-mentored undergraduate research projects and creative activities during the academic year and summer.
